Director Chris Noonan credits success of Babe for artistic freedom

Premiere Pass
TOKYO -Chris Noonan says he knows a good thing when he sees it. The man who helmed the runaway hit movie Babe is quick to acknowledge the fruits his labor on the film has produced.
It includes being able to pick and choose movie projects based on his wants rather than studio's needs. And he says it an awesome feeling, one that he is grateful for during an interview with Access E to promote his latest cinema effort, "Miss Potter."
"After Babe I felt that I was in a position where I could choose. I didn't just have to do whatever came along next. I worked myself into that position where I had that luxury of choice. Then I read script after script, after script, after script, and with each one I though, Oh my God I am never going to find something that's good and eventually this script (Miss Potter) came along but it took a lot of years before that happened. You know I was very lucky where I could be in a position where I could chose. Otherwise I might have had to make another film and history would have been different. But I love this film and I am pleased that I waited for it."
