TOKYO - To say that the Tokyo Jazz Festival, being held Sept. 20-23, at the Tokyo International Forum - Hall A, will have something for everyone is an understatement this year as organizers have put together an impressive lineup that will skirt the outer limits of everything from be-bop, to standard, fusion to smooth, rap to big band, with promises of some surprises sandwiched in.
Stellar jazz staples like saxophonist Candy Dulfer, pianist Joe Sample, singer Randy Crawford, guitarist Lee Ritenour, pianist Bob James, guitarist Mike Stern, saxophonist Randy Brecker, and saxophonist Bob Mintzer headlines a standout lineup that also includes The Duke Ellington Orchestra, guitarist Hiram Bullock and R&B singer Eric Benet.
